Janet Keen Haiku Exhibition in the Rotorua Public Library until September 13th, 2014

lets all do it
create haiku
and flow with creative spirit

You can still do it because the
Exhibition is in the Rotorua Public Library until Saturday September 13th

St Mary's pupils handing over illustrated haiku for me to take to the library.

If you live in Rotorua please go and the exhibition I have put together of haiku and illustrations
  St Mary's Catholic Primary School.
Submit a haiku to the box to be into the random  draw to win an animal photo.
All adults and children are invited  to get creative

Write a  haiku in response to it (short, three lined poem, nothing drastic or major, just a thought or two) and put it in the box

with your phone number on the back and one winner will be drawn out and that person will win a free animal photo from me.

Don't forget to sign the book.

This St Mary's pupil did it

These three visitors to the library did it

  Sally Ah Chan did it

These St Mary's Catholic church parishioners did it

One of my pupils  fathers did it

 These little kids did it

These communications experts from NIWA did it

This gorgeous  woman whose brother was a famous poet did it.

These pupils who did and  came to see their work on display

I did it over and over and in fact this is the third year in a row I have organised a haiku exhibition in the library.

TV Rotorua got right on board with the idea and had a lovely time filming and talking about haiku and the fun I had with the children and Lynley Schofieldfrom St Mary's.

Rotorua TV are so relaxed and super nice .

Mel the interviewer even wrote a haiku and put it in the box and signed the visitors book.

The camera man Graeme loved my photos which was a bonus as he is a really experienced photographer.

Graham (cameraman)  even gave me a quote that I could turn into a haiku which is
It's not the size of the wand
that matters
but the magic that's in it

That made me laugh so much.
It was a lovely image and it made me want to go out and draw a magician with a wand.

Please tune into TV Rotorua, it is a great channel.

Mcleods Booksellers  got into the spirit of it.
They have a great range of poetry books for you to buy.
They are members of the booksellers association which sponsors National Poetry Day.
Michael Byrne and Jemma wrote me some haiku for the box, here they are.

death the ultimate cheat
living robbs blind
means justify ends.
what are clouds
but an excuse for sky
what is life
but an escape from death.
Michael Byrne
wrinkled eyes gently
close like shutters on a life
                                  this day extinguished

                                  fragments of pages

fall like grey snow in attempts

                                  to rob our knowledge

we only see crime
                                   not the rocky journey's scars
                                   which compelled them here

“Haiku is not a shriek, a howl, a sigh, or a yawn; rather, it is the deep breath of life.”

Hmm it seems like your site ate my first comment (it was extremely long) so I guess
I'll just sum it up what I wrote and say, I'm thoroughly enjoying your blog.

I as well am an aspiring blog blogger but I'm still new to everything.
Do you have any tips for beginner blog writers? I'd genuinely appreciate it.
