 Photographing things (like apples) with imperfections is a favourite pass time of mine.I like an element of orderliness in life but I also love to allow an element of chaos and mystery  to come through and have its day in the sun. On Saturday I went to the local food market to get some samosas and I took photos of this delightful doggy stand, it is so artistic.  These people are from Matamata  and they make all their  healthy doggy treats by hand. For my 50th birthday Graham took me away to Ohiwa Harbour camping ground where he  rented us a cabin for nine fantastic days. To keep creativity alive it is essential  for me to go on adventures to gain  visual material, Walking is an added bonus. I went to a local performance of CATS,  the musical Cats are my favourite animals.  I enjoyed it for the music, the singing, the set design and the chance to get dressed up. One of Graham and my favourite Saturday morning dates is to go to Kurau park Food and Vege market  to the Indian stand who has the samosas. You get 6 Samosas for five dollars. He has the meat ones and I have the vegetarian  because I try to trick myself that that are healthier. We walk around the corner to the mineral foot baths and sit down soaking our feet in warm (sometimes piping hot)

I have been going to an orchard for the past twenty five years called Classic Roses.                                                                         Dappled Apples  It's on the Whakatane Highway, just before you get to Hells Gate. They have the most beautiful, fresh tasting apples, passionfruit and seasonal vegetables in the world. I love the Braeburns best because they are tangy.

This week I decided to try doing portraits every day or at least draw something every day and I managed to do it. I have noticed that in the short time I have been drawing,  I  have been improving. I draw the portraits from next magazine upside down, I have been recommending to all my srtudents that they do this. It's fun because you don't see the picture until you turn it  the right way up.

To keep me motivated creatively I often listen to Tony Robbins DVDs.  I regularly do his hour of power morning "pick me up " exercises and usually do his goal setting workshop at the beginning of each year.  I have been doing this for the past seven years. At the end of each year I list all the things I want to achieve for the following year and pick the top three that I want to achieve
