Kuirau Park, Rotorua Double Exposure Photos with Jing, taken by Janet Keen, Art Photographer.

My friend Jing and I often go on Photographic Safari's together.

This was one Autumn morning in Kuirau Park, Rotorua

I first discovered this special, secret spot  when I was riding my bike with my husband

I knew Jing would like it because it's so mysterious and eerie; not the sort of place you would want to hang out by yourself.

The steam wafts over in billowing bursts, engulfing, you lose sight of the person standing right next to you.
You feel alone yet together
The sun shafts into your back casting your shadow into the close misty screen.
They  waltz, ghosts  swirling in the  air.

 I dissolve.
I could be on a moon scape or in Japan after a nucleur explosion
My breath  laboured and  laden with intoxicating sulphur odour.

The manuka all piney.   It's feather fingers caress your hands as you brush past.
Thermal water underneath the bridge seeps into the soles of your shoes, warming, turning them rubbery and malleable.

Mist wraps around you like an alpaca blanket.
Or encased in a silk caterpiller's cacoon.

Algae blooms in the surging water.
The plop  of bubbling mud pools splutter

One false step and you would be boiled alive in this witches couldron

Double exposure photography allows  layers and colours into scenes making them surreal and slippery like a Dali painting

Ambiguity is freedom, allowing you to travel into your imagination

The Kurau park secret spot is the departure point into another mysterious, sinister and surprising world.

Get lost in it and see how you have changed once you come in from the other side.
Do you feel more alive or closer to death?

Activity
Go for a walk. Take some photos. You can use your phone camera if you don't have a DSLR
Manipulate them into surreal colours and write some haiku and poetry  about them.
Opportunites for haiku are all around you.
Take time out now.
It's  great way to bring peace into your world.

Creative Quote of the day

“my love is a winter’s mist

gently dissolving

through the window

at the nape of your neck.”

Six week Journaling journey towards being sugar free and abundant. Day 3.

Illustration 5
Janet embraces changes in all seasons.

It's easy to become despondent in winter, but this year I am aiming to stay in the present moment and see what each season has to offer.
Autumn is a kaliederscope of yellows, oranges and browns which make pretty stimulating photos.
In the midde of winter I am planning to visit my clients farm in Reporoa and I'm going to take shots of  naked. silver tees in the mist.
Hopefully  I  will also get some great action  shots of snorting, steaming  cows  on grass, munching hay.
Frost back lit on grass with a macro lens presents opportunities  for artistic photos.

Illustration 6.
Janet appreciates those closest to her

Graham my husband is my soul mate.
This means that he tolerates my quirks of which there are many.
He always supports my artistic journey and is a whizz on the computer.
He has saved me from many virus attacks and  technical mal functions.
He brings me breakfast in bed on the weekends.
He often has kind words to say about my personality and he is tirelessly loyal.
He appreciates my cooking and he always feeds the hungry demanding, " Love of my life," cat.

His chief fault is that he won't let me have a dog because he doesn't like cleaning up dog waste or barking.
I have to live vicariously through other people's dogs.
So far I  have had 10 dogs visit my studio with their owners and I am looking forward to more.
Graham enjoys sailing and chess and is highly intelligent.
He was top scholar in the 7th form at Boys High and he's always sorting out engineering problems at his work.
I appreciate him and I am lucky to have him as an excellent biking companion.
In a relationship I think it's important to have freedom and a strong sense of yourself and your own goals.
Being your own life coach is a the name of a good book I have on the subject which helps you to have a balance in all areas of your life.
Balance promotes happiness.

So readers, do you sometimes take your significant  others for granted and forget to express your gratitude to them for all the nice things they do for you on a daily basis?
Try writing a short note of appreciation and slip it under their pillow with a short poem.

Write to me at jkeen@clear.net.nz with your results.
Book in for a poetry writing and illustration class. Monday, Tuesday Wednesday and Friday mornings, 9.30am to 11,30am
Phone 346-3435 to book your space.

Creative Quote of the Day
“What’s the difference?” I asked him. “Between the love of your life, and your soulmate?”
“One is a choice, and one is not.”

Double Exposure, Ohiwa Harbour.

Ohiwa Harbour New Zealand, is a place I would recommend because of it's unspoilt beauty.

My husband and i go there two or three times a year and we walk a lot and recently we have taken to riding around it.

It has wonderful photographic opportunities.

We stay at the Ohiwa beach Camping Ground in Unit One

I usually do a a lot of artwork here and I find the fresh air is good for my soul.

It's only about one and a half hours car ride away and the scenery there is also very rural and exciting.

Have a creative time by taking a break away beside the sea.

Day 2. of six week being sugar free.
The aim of the illustrations is to chart my journey of being sugar free and abundant for six weeks.
During this time  I will create two illustrations a day and they will be reminding  myself  and others to live in the now to be mindful and positive and to embrace the abundance that is flowing my and your way.
I will endeavour to interpret these drawings that come from the subconscious of self discovery and abundance, plus commit to being sugar free ( I repeat this because it's really important).
If you eat sugar to keep your emotions stuffed down inside you, you will never be free to live in the golden light.
Addictions like sugar, alcohol or even too much TV watching keep you stuck.
Come on a 6 week journey with me to free yourself.
Together we can achieve more.
Rotorua readers are welcome to sign up for a six week doodling classes with me at a cost of $25.00 per lesson.
All you need is a visual diary, a set of HB pencils, a rubber and some black in pens.
Phone 3463435 or email jkeen@clear.net.nz to sign up today.
You can do it. You can change your life starting now.

Illustration 3
Janet goes on a literary break to Tauranga

I want to write travel articles and be paid to do so.
I also want the travel experiences to be paid by the publisher.
Tall ask I hear you say.
But unless you start visualising and writing you will never get there, so start today.
Other people do it, why can't I?
The power is in the believing in possibilities.

What are your aspirations readers?
Get out your diaries and start drawing and writing about them today.

Illustration 4.
Janet surrounds herself with spiritual role models and people who will pray for her success.

Prayer to God.
Please God fill my life with love, light, and helpful friendships that help me get closer to you.
Let me use my skills and talents to help the world be a more enjoyable, peace filled, fun filled, relaxing  and trustworthy place.
Please let me be surrounded by respect.
Please let me not be deterred from my path by people who are jealous  of me or who try to use me for their selfish ends.
Let me attract good God loving people who are aligned with my adventure and travel plans.
I trust in you God and pray that others too can reach their dreams and goals through doodling and illustrating.
Let's go forth and be creative today.

Who can you surround yourself as spiritual mentors and guides to help you along your journey towards the light?
List them and make a drawing about them and see who  you attract.
Write to me at jkeen@clear.net.nz with your successes.

Quote of the day.
Others have seen what is and asked why. I have seen what could be and asked why not. ”

Double Exposure Photography and poetry .From Janet Keen, Rotorua Fine Art Photographer.

The  Chinese girl loved photographing  nature so much

that one day  she melted  into

maple leaves in the Japanese peace garden

She dissolved  into  a cloud of mist

and reappeared  as raindrops

nourishing the leaves that lived beside a stream

 that  flowed into a

bottomless blue, purple green and orange

pool of  possibilities.

Creative Quote of the day.

From my point of view, God is the light that illuminates the darkness, even if it does not dissolve it, and a spark of divine light is within each of us. Pope Francis

Doodling for Manifestation of good health, abundance, happiness and being sugar free. Six week course.

Doodling is fun.
It helps manifest abundance and it gives you a rest from all the stress of  worrying.
You sit down with paper and a pencil and a blank journal and let your imagination soar.
No-one's there to judge  your efforts because you can keep them secret and it's one step up from colouring in other peoples drawings.

The start of my six week manifestation journal.

On the back side of the doodle page I write a page of messages to myself.
It starts off with a prayer and talks about anything I feel like with regard to gratitude and abundance.

Prayer.  You can do this to the God of your choice it doesn't have to be Christian).
I am praying to a Christian God because I'm a Catholic.
If you aren't religious; pray to the universe or  a higher power.
 Just give it over.
Don't expect to do it all yourself.

Prayer for Abundance.
Please God bring happiness to me for all the rest of my days and  to the people who surround me and who I teach and come into contact with.
Please fill my studio with lots of lovely people who want to pay me to teach them how to be more creative.
Send me some nice, happy, caring, lovely, positive, helpful and  intelligent friends to be surrounded by who only want the best for me and each other.
Help me to become and remain totally sugar (sucrose) free.
Keep me safe on a protected, true, kind, grateful and abundant path.

I will be doodling two illustrations about myself  and or other people and animals per day with an accompanied prayer, piece of writing or a poem.
From these doodles I  want to manifest, health, abundance happiness and being sugar free.
It will happen for a period of six weeks and I will keep you abreast of my progress.

 Day One.  Doodle Two.

Janet meets the Flow of Abundance.

Prayer: Please God help me to get into the flow of abundance so that the phone rings hot with offers of paid work with regard to art teaching and writing.
This is because  I  want to go on a pilgrimage to Italy to see the mosaics and I  want  to raise $7,000 quickly to do it.
Please help me God.
I need to go in 2018, because I'm not getting any younger and my husband will be retiring and I  will need to support us with my brilliant God given gifts.
I am in the flow and abundant offers flow to me.

The Road to recovery by journaling.
For the past month I have slipped from my normal practise of being positive.
So I had reverted to sleeping in till 9am, instead of getting up and going for a walk at 7am
I had taken to watching too much TV instead of writing and drawing.
I had taken to eating sugar which is really bad for roller-coaster moods and I had taken to thinking like a victim.
It had also been bad because I fell off my bike, hurt my knee and couldn't have the wind in my face or the endorphin fix from the exercise.
I had even given up on blogging, taken less photos and just felt that I was in a  giant rut.
But I am out of the rut and back up on the bike and  I am not giving in.
Journaling, doodling and writing the life that I am manifesting will help accelerate the progress and before you know it I will be in the flow of being in Italy and teaching art all over the world.
I just need to believe that it's happening and feel and act like it's happening.
 You can do this too.
Just sign up for a course in joyful journaling and we will manifest miracles together.

Creative Quote of the Day
“You can be the most beautiful person in the world and everybody sees light and rainbows when they look at you, but if you yourself don't know it, all of that doesn't even matter. Every second that you spend on doubting your worth, every moment that you use to criticize yourself; is a second of your life wasted, is a moment of your life thrown away. It's not like you have forever, so don't waste any of your seconds, don't throw even one of your moments away.”
