I am going to produce a video and here are some of my favourite shots from it

When you look at a body of work you will see that often re-occurring themes come up

These images were chosen for the blog out of one hundred images largely due to their small file size. But even so I can see some things that are similar

Most of the images are furry, multi layered and low key

They are of nature and nature mixed with animals, humans or statues of humans.

They look alone

With backgrounds fading in and out and the background sometimes crossing over to the foreground

They are semi abstract and impressionistic

Dreaming and full of mystery and questions

The more you involve yourself with art, photography or drawing and writing plus walking in nature the better you will become.
You will start to develop a distinctive style that people will recognise and follow.
The trick is you just have to keep going and  follow your heart and intuition and spend time looking at others work and nature for inspiration.

Photo Impressions of White island New Zealand by Janet Keen Rotorua Abstract Photographer

If you come to New Zealand it is well worth while visiting White Island.

This is a live volcano full of billowing steam and sulphur

Patterns on the earth are impressive because of their brightly coloured corrugations

Large lava rocks burst out of the earth and the air is full of sulphurous fumes

There is a feeling of dangerous excitement. it could explode at any time

The atmosphere feels angry and hot

It is an ideal place for abstract impressionistic photography
Because on the one hand it is harsh and barren and on the other startlingly beautiful in its loneliness

You can feel almost the agony of people having been killed by explosions here

It is the closest and easiest live volcano to reach in New Zealand because you access it by boat

Its weather dependant because the Whakatane bar can be treacherous in bad weather for boats.

But go I urge you because its impressions will stay in your mind long after your footprint has been  ground down  and disappeared into the sulphurous haze.

Impressions of Whakarewarewa Forest Rotorua new Zealand

Forest bathing is great for health
Spiritual, mental, emotional , physical and psychological
Take a walk with a friend for safety and just wander without talking
Drink in the fresh air, smells, sounds of birds, rustling of leaves and listen to what the trees are telling you
There you can find clues to your questions and dreams as long as you listen and take note of what pops into your mind.
The key to my serenity and creativity is to keep on taking photos, making art and writing.
The process is healing and it's not too important to worry about the end result because it's all about discovery and being open to making mistakes.
Stay in the present and listen to your intuition. rest, relax and recharge and you will feel more centred.

Mokoia Island Impressions By Janet Keen, Art Photographer, Rotorua New Zealand.

I went with some members of the Rotorua Camera Club for a photo shoot to Mokoia Island in March 2017.
I stayed in one area near Hinemoa's famous pool.
It was tranquil with loads of Saddle back birds flying around who were impossible to photograph because they wouldn't stay still.
These are some of the results.

Tulip Festival Rotorua , Online Exhibition of Spring, What Spring means to me by Janet Keen. All images Copywrite

Spring Moon. Spring to me means new beginnings. Celebration and a time to start new adventures.

Spring Rain. Spring to me means lots of rain and grey skies with a promise of brighter colours.

Spring means nuances of shades, more light and bursts of energy and explosion of weeds.

Spring means clear and cloudy nights with the chill of the air still fresh on your breath, with the call of moreporks echoing in the valley.

Spring means a time to revisit your wardrobe, recycle and reuse and  visit shops to buy clothes to co-ordinate with your ensembles that make you feel cheerful and  celebratory.

Spring is a time of spreading your wings and flying to places you want to go and believing in the power of possibility.
Shaking off raindrops from people or your own thought process that try to with you drown with water.

My mission is to give girls the tools to be able to blossom into their best selves. Elizabeth Berkley

Making flowers in visual diaries with coloured pencils and superimpsing them on top og blossoms is an addictive pastime in Spring.

"The beautiful spring came; and when Nature resumes her loveliness, the human soul is apt to revive also." --Harriet Ann Jacobs

I trust in nature for the stable laws of beauty and utility. Spring shall plant and autumn garner to the end of time. Robert Browning

No man can taste the fruits of autumn while he is delighting his scent with the flowers of spring. Samuel Johnson

In the spring, at the end of the day, you should smell like dirt. Margaret Atwood

"Spring is nature's way of saying, "Let's party!" --Robin Williams
Religion and art spring from the same root and are close kin. Economics and art are strangers. Nathaniel Hawthorne
Let us be grateful to people who make us happy, they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom. Marcel Proust

. "I want to do to you what spring does with the cherry trees." --Pablo Neruda
